High Standards
At Keen Software House, we build ambitious games and technology with people who want to do their best work. We are for builders: curious, capable people who solve hard problems, take ownership and see their work reach players.

High standards are not about fear, control or perfection. They create the clarity, trust and accountability that let talented people move fast, make decisions and do exceptional work together. They are not about endless hours: sustainable performance matters more than heroics.
We judge ourselves by outcomes – not activity, titles or good intentions. Every important task has a clear owner, deadline and definition of done. Owners have room to solve problems, move work forward, surface risks early and ask for help.
We simplify before adding scope, process or people. We prefer prototypes, tests and player feedback over long debates or perfection. Quality matters; we raise it through iteration.
Disagreement is welcome before a decision. People should speak honestly, bring evidence and propose solutions. Once a decision is made, we commit as one team unless new facts justify revisiting it.
Communication is direct, respectful and transparent. We address problems – not personalities. We do not tolerate politics, blame, dishonesty or toxic behavior. Credit is shared, problems are owned and teammates help one another succeed.
Mistakes and failed experiments are acceptable when they are honest, managed responsibly and turned into learning. Leaders are accountable for clear direction and simplicity. Everyone is accountable for commitments and impact.
This environment is not for everyone. It is for people who want meaningful challenges, candid feedback, autonomy and teammates who care about the result. Done well, high standards mean less confusion, less politics, faster learning, stronger trust – and games we can be proud of for years.
These standards apply to everyone at Keen – including me.
